Ideas for Volunteering

Greeter- Welcomes groups as they arrive at the ranch. May also offer direction to newcomers, insure that release forms have been completed, and to remind everyone to sign-in and sign-out. May help organize schedule for volunteers and children that will be visiting the ranch during the week. Opens gates for cars coming into the ranch.

Work Horse- For those who like to get out and get moving, the ranch is full of muscle-building jobs. Work may include stacking hay, building and fixing fences, clearing brush, ditch digger, raking, stacking firewood, spreading wood shavings, cleaning water tanks, building things, etc.

Fixer-Upper- Will help with repairs and maintenance on ranch machinery. This includes six-wheelers, tractors, farm truck, power tools, chain saws etc.

Artisan- Creative people that make things beautiful at the ranch. These people use their skills to dream up, construct and/or maintain ranch art or tending the gardens.

Playmate- Lets kids be kids. This playful volunteer may simply play with the kids while they are waiting to ride. Or just hang out and be a listener to kids that might need a little one on one.

Story Teller- This person or persons collect and journal valuable memories that are made at the ranch with the kids and the horses. May work with others to do layouts for the ranch's newsletter. (Some writing experience would be nice)

Sharp Shooter- Captures memories of the ranch's activities through photos. For use in the ranch newsletter or other publications for fund raisers etc.

Shuttle Transport- Brings children to the ranch who would otherwise have no way to get here.

Listener- Keeps open ears to our many ranch visitors. This person is open and sensitive to intentionally seek out those who really need to talk.

Fund Raiser- Spreads the news of the ranch by encouraging others to visit and make donations. These volunteers may be more active away from the ranch than be physically at it.

Musician- Helps "set the mood" at the ranch. Uses songs with a positive message to share both a loving heart and musical skill. May use any of a wide variety of instruments to share in song or even teach lessons.

Other Ideas: Take note, it is possible to fulfill many more positions than are listed here. For example, House Cleaning, Office Work, Odds and Ends etc.
